Webley Revolver Solid Frame  by Blanch & Sons 1860s

Maker: Webley Model: Solid Frame Caliber/Gauge: .442 Webley

Serial #2137, .442 Eley, 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a truly handsome revolver that has retained 98% plus of its original bright blue finish with a few scattered spots of mild freckling here and there as well as a small amount of silvering along the exposed edges and projections. Some minor flaking is present along the backstrap. The hammer, trigger, loading gate, safety spring, and cylinder pin have their original bright finish remaining with only a few miniscule hints of freckling present and all numbers match except for the flanged cylinder pin screw on the left side. The topstrap is retailer marked: "BLANCH & SONS/GRACECHURCH ST. LONDON" with the Webley & Scott "Winged Bullet" on the left side of the frame. The finely checkered walnut grip is likewise in excellent condition with very little flattening present on the otherwise sharp points and only a few negligible handling marks marring the original varnish finish. The lock-up is still tight and the revolver functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in its original presentation case with original dark blue baize-lined interior along with a pewter and glass oiler, turn-screw, cleaning rod, key, and an added cartridge block with 24 rounds of original .442 cartridges. The John Blanch & Sons paper label is intact on the interior of the lid and has a very small amount of age toning. This is the very revolver pictured on page 57 of "Webley Revolvers" by Gordon Bruce and Christian Reinhart as fig. IV/10 in the 1988 printing (it is erroneously attributed to E.M. Reilly & Co. in the caption but the serial number is plainly visible in the photo). This is a truly excellent example of an early solid frame Webley that has been published and also comes with a full complement of accessories. Antique {Ref.
